Terms of Use and Sale

This English version is a translation provided for convenience. In the event of any discrepancy between this translation and the French version, the French version shall prevail.

These terms govern the use of the Clefdoc app and its web version, as well as the purchase of paid access. They are offered by CALCENA, the publisher of Clefdoc. Please read them before using the app or making a purchase.

Last updated: 3 November 2026.

At a glance

  • A 7-day free trial, then an auto-renewing annual subscription or lifetime access for a single payment.
  • Purchases are paid for and managed in the App Store or Google Play; the subscription is canceled from your Apple or Google account settings, at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
  • Without a purchase after the trial, your documents remain viewable and exportable: they are never locked.
  • Your documents are stored only on your device: remember to back them up.
  • Text recognition is automatic and may contain errors: check the text before any important use.

1. Purpose and acceptance

These terms apply:

  • to the “Clefdoc – Scanner PDF privé” app for iPhone and Android, distributed on Apple’s App Store and on Google Play;
  • to the free web version, available at app.clefdoc.com;
  • to purchases made in the app (annual subscription and lifetime access).

They are entered into between you and CALCENA, a SARL registered in the Trade and Companies Register (RCS Paris 984 839 555), with its registered office at 66 boulevard Voltaire, 75011 Paris, France (hereinafter “CALCENA”). Full information about the publisher is provided in the legal notice.

By using Clefdoc or making a purchase, you accept these terms. The provisions specific to consumers apply to natural persons acting for non-professional purposes.

For the app downloaded from the App Store, Apple’s standard end user license agreement (“Licensed Application End User License Agreement”) also applies; these terms supplement it. Purchases also remain subject to the terms of the store used: the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions or the Google Play Terms of Service.

2. The service

Clefdoc lets you scan documents with your phone and save them as PDF or JPEG files. Its features include: automatic edge detection (using Apple’s or Google’s built-in scanner on phones), perspective correction, manual cropping with a magnifier, filters (Magic, Grayscale, Black & white, Original), brightness and contrast adjustment, rotation, multi-page documents and page reordering, export to PDF (A4 or fitted format) and JPEG, sharing, and text recognition (OCR), offline in the apps. The interface is available in French, English, Spanish and German.

Your documents are stored only on your device. Data processing is described in the privacy policy.

The web version is free and offers limited features. It is provided “as is”, with no commitment as to its availability; no purchases are offered in it.

Detailed features and compatible devices are listed on the app’s page in the App Store and on Google Play.

3. Access

Clefdoc is used without an account. You need a compatible device and, for certain operations, an internet connection: downloading and updating the app, making and restoring purchases, and the first use of text recognition in the web version. Connection charges are your responsibility.

CALCENA may develop the app, in particular through updates, in compliance with the Changes section. Access to the web version and to the website may be interrupted for maintenance or in the event of technical difficulties.

4. License to use

CALCENA grants you a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use Clefdoc on the devices associated with your Apple or Google account, within the limits set by the store’s rules, for your private or professional needs.

You agree not to:

  • copy, modify, distribute, resell or rent the app;
  • decompile or analyze it beyond what the law permits (Article L122-6-1 of the French Intellectual Property Code, Code de la propriété intellectuelle);
  • circumvent the purchase verification or the limitations of the free version;
  • use Clefdoc for unlawful purposes.

You remain the sole owner of the documents you scan and are responsible for them. CALCENA acquires no rights over them and has no access to them. It is your responsibility to respect the rights of third parties, in particular copyright and the privacy of the people whose documents are entrusted to you.

5. Plans, prices and payment

After the free trial, full access to the app is offered under two plans:

  • Annual subscription: €19.99 per year, renewing automatically, cancelable at any time;
  • Lifetime access: €39.99 in a single payment.

These prices are given for information purposes for France, including all taxes. They may vary depending on the country, the currency, local taxes and the store. The applicable price is the one displayed in the app and by the store at the time of your purchase, before you confirm it.

Payment is made to Apple or Google, using the payment method associated with your account, under their terms. CALCENA does not receive your payment data. Invoices and receipts are issued by the store.

Your purchase is linked to the Apple or Google account used. To recover it on another device on the same platform, use the app’s “Restore purchases” feature with the same account. A purchase made on the App Store cannot be used on Android, and vice versa.

6. Free trial

A 7-day free trial, attached to the annual subscription, gives access to all the app’s features. It is limited to one trial per Apple or Google account, in accordance with the store’s rules. No amount is charged during the trial.

At the end of the trial, the paid annual subscription starts automatically, unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the trial, from your account settings (see section 7).

If you buy lifetime access during the trial, remember to cancel the subscription whose trial is in progress: otherwise, it would be charged when the trial ends.

7. Annual subscription

The subscription is entered into for a term of one year. It renews automatically for a further one-year term, at the price then in force, unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current term. The renewal amount is charged through your Apple or Google account on the renewal date, or within the 24 hours preceding it.

Cancellation. You can cancel at any time, free of charge, from your account settings:

  • iPhone: Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions (Apple help);
  • Android: Google Play app, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions (Google help).

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current term: you keep full access until that date. Uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription.

A term that has already started is not refunded on a pro rata basis, unless otherwise provided by law or decided by the store. If you are a consumer, you benefit from Articles L215-1 et seq. of the French Consumer Code (Code de la consommation) on the renewal of contracts.

Price changes. If the subscription price changes, you will be informed in advance by the store, which obtains your consent where the regulations or its rules require it. If you do not accept the new price, you can cancel before it applies.

8. Lifetime access

Lifetime access is a one-time purchase that unlocks all the paid features of the app, with no subscription or additional payment and with no time limit, on the platform where it was purchased (App Store or Google Play) and for the Apple or Google account used.

It covers the Clefdoc app as distributed and updated by CALCENA. Updates are provided under the conditions of the legal guarantee of conformity (section 11). The operation of the app also depends on the compatibility of your device and its operating system.

9. Without a purchase or after access ends

If the trial ends without a purchase, or if your subscription ends, the app switches to read-only mode:

  • your documents remain viewable;
  • you can still export them (PDF, JPEG) and share them;
  • scanning new documents and editing existing documents require a purchase.

Your documents are never deleted because the trial or the subscription has ended.

10. Right of withdrawal and refunds

As a rule, consumers have 14 days to withdraw from a contract concluded at a distance (Article L221-18 of the French Consumer Code).

However, in accordance with Article L221-28(13) of the French Consumer Code, this right cannot be exercised for the supply of digital content not supplied on a tangible medium where performance has begun before the end of the withdrawal period and, the contract providing for payment:

  • you gave your prior express consent for performance to begin immediately;
  • you acknowledged that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal;
  • a confirmation of this consent was provided to you.

When you make a purchase in Clefdoc, paid access is provided immediately after payment. By confirming the purchase under these conditions, you waive your right of withdrawal.

The free trial involves no payment: you can end it at any time, free of charge, by canceling it at least 24 hours before it ends.

Refunds. As payments are collected by Apple or Google, refunds are made through them, under their terms, which may be more favorable than the above:

You can also contact us: we will help you with the process.

11. Legal guarantee of conformity

If you are a consumer, you benefit from the legal guarantee of conformity for digital content and services (garantie légale de conformité, Articles L224-25-12 et seq. of the French Consumer Code):

  • for lifetime access, CALCENA is liable for any lack of conformity that appears within two years of supply; for the subscription, for any lack of conformity that appears throughout the term of the subscription;
  • you can have the app brought into conformity free of charge or, failing that, obtain a price reduction or the termination of the contract, under the conditions provided for by law;
  • CALCENA informs you of the updates necessary to keep the app in conformity and provides them to you.

To invoke this guarantee, contact us and describe the problem you have encountered (see section 16).

12. Liability

Backing up your documents. Your documents are stored only on your device. CALCENA holds no copy of them and cannot recover them in the event of loss, theft, failure or reset of the device, uninstallation of the app or deletion of the browser data. It is your responsibility to keep your important documents elsewhere, for example by exporting them or by enabling your device’s backup.

Text recognition. Recognized text is produced automatically and may contain errors, depending on the quality of the image, the layout or the handwriting. Check it before any important use. The quality of scans also depends on the lighting and the camera.

Third-party services. The stores, Google Play services, the sharing or storage services you choose and your internet connection are the responsibility of their respective providers.

CALCENA uses reasonable means to provide a reliable app. It cannot be held liable in the event of use that does not comply with these terms, fault on your part or force majeure. Nothing in these terms limits CALCENA’s liability for gross negligence or intentional misconduct (faute lourde ou intentionnelle) or for personal injury, or deprives you of the rights you hold under the legal guarantees and the mandatory provisions of consumer law.

13. Intellectual property

The app, its code, its interface, its texts, the Clefdoc name and logo, and the website are the property of CALCENA or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property law. These terms do not transfer to you any rights other than the license provided for in section 4.

Clefdoc includes open-source components, in particular the Tesseract text recognition engine, distributed under their own licenses.

14. Personal data

Clefdoc works without an account and your documents remain on your device. Details of the data processed, its recipients and your rights are set out in the privacy policy.

15. Changes

CALCENA may amend these terms, in particular to take account of changes to the app or to the regulations. The version in force is the one published on this page, with its date of last update. In the event of a significant change, you will be informed in the app or on this website before it takes effect.

Changes do not apply retroactively to purchases already made as regards their price, duration and essential characteristics. Any change to the app that is not necessary to keep it in conformity is provided to you at no additional cost; if it had a significant negative impact on your use, you could terminate the contract under the conditions provided for by law.

16. Customer service and mediation

For any question or complaint, contact us:

  • by email: support@clefdoc.com;
  • by phone: +33 7 80 94 35 33;
  • by post: CALCENA, 66 boulevard Voltaire, 75011 Paris, France.

Answers to common questions are available on the Help and Contact page.

Consumer mediation. If you are a consumer and a dispute could not be resolved after a written complaint to CALCENA, you may refer it free of charge to a consumer mediator, in accordance with Articles L612-1 et seq. of the French Consumer Code. The matter must be referred to the mediator within one year of your written complaint.

Mediator: their name and contact details will be provided here before sales open.

Recourse to mediation is optional: you remain free to bring the matter before the courts.

17. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer residing in another European Union country, you retain the protection afforded to you by the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.

In the event of a dispute, and after an attempt to reach an amicable settlement, consumers may bring proceedings, at their choice, before any of the courts having territorial jurisdiction under the French Code of Civil Procedure (Code de procédure civile) or before the court of the place where they resided when the contract was concluded (Article R631-3 of the French Consumer Code). If you are acting as a professional, the courts within the jurisdiction of the Paris Court of Appeal (cour d’appel de Paris) have exclusive jurisdiction.
